Frequently Asked Questions
Is it a good time to buy silver in the UAE?
Silver is one of the most affordable precious metals for investors and is widely traded in the UAE. Many investors use silver to diversify their portfolio alongside gold. Silver has a lower per-ounce price, making it more accessible for new investors and useful for smaller, regular purchases.
How is the silver price calculated in the UAE?
Silver is priced in USD per troy ounce on the international spot market. The AED price is calculated by multiplying the spot price by the USD/AED rate (pegged at 3.6725). One troy ounce equals 31.1035 grams. At IBV Gold, prices update throughout the trading day.
What is the best silver to buy in Dubai?
The most popular silver investment products in the UAE are 1oz Silver Bullion, 1oz Silver Britannias, 1kg silver bars, and 10oz silver bars. All are LBMA-recognised and are zero-rated for VAT under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. (8) of 2017.
Is silver VAT-free in the UAE?
Investment-grade silver (bullion 99% pure or higher) is zero-rated for VAT in the UAE under Federal Decree-Law No. (8) of 2017. Numismatic or collector silver may be subject to 5% VAT.
What's the difference between silver coins and silver bars?
Silver coins (like the gold / silver bullion or Britannia) are legal-tender coins with a small premium over spot. Silver bars (1oz to 1kg) are produced by refiners like PAMP Suisse, Valcambi, and Rand Refinery. Bars typically have the lowest premium per ounce, while coins are more recognisable and easier to sell in smaller quantities.
How should I store my silver?
Silver is best stored in a cool, dry place away from humidity. For larger holdings, consider a safe deposit box or allocated vault storage with IBV International Vaults. Stored silver is fully insured and audited regularly.

Selling Your Silver
Where can I sell silver in Dubai?
IBV Gold FZCO buys silver at our studios in Almas Tower (JLT) and Gold & Diamond Park (Al Quoz). We buy all major silver coins and bars including Silver Bullion, Silver Britannias, and PAMP/Valcambi/Rand Refinery bars.
How is the silver buyback price calculated?
Our buyback price is the live international silver spot price converted to AED, minus a small handling margin. We update prices throughout the day and lock in the price at the time of the transaction.
Do you buy silver jewellery?
We primarily buy investment silver (coins and bars). For silver jewellery, we recommend specialist dealers. We can, however, evaluate any silver item for its metal content and provide a buyback quote if it meets investment-grade purity.
How quickly will I be paid?
Payment is made immediately upon agreement. We pay by bank transfer or cash. For bank transfers, settlement usually clears within the same business day.
